I arrived in  Luang Prabang I think on Wednesday 9th, I had the most stunning trip from Vang Vieng on the 7 hour coach ride, through the mountains. I've just come back from a 5 day homestay and teaching english at a newly created NGO (Non Government Organistation) that works with local families in the Somroungknong Village just out of Battambabang city. It's called Bova (Battambang Orphanage Village Assistance) Free english lessons, along with help as able with school books, uniforms, food and sponsership for poor children and orphans.

What an amazing 7 days, just checked in to my b&b back in hobart, seems longer than 7 days ago. I've seen so much and done alot of out doors stuff including alot of walk and yet feel quite refreshed. turns out train left darwin late :) i could have caught it, anyway am now on it at katherine. but they removed the lounge car a few weeks ago :( train station a tin shed in middle of nowhere i liked katherine. more like what i was expecting of nt. not sure how won tidy town 2002, dirty main st. hot and many Aboriginals sitting under trees, they are the smart ones.

forgot to mention from tuesday. highly recommend self filing of your own teeth. one standard emery board works the treat for a broken tooth, takes the rough edges away. i will have to find a dentist when i get home.

I´m in Santiago for my final 3 days overseas. I went to snowboarding yesterday, it was awesome. I made it to Machu Picchu after 4 days or walking up and down endless hills and thousands of steps. Amazing stuff! It hasn´t inspired me to take up hiking but was worth it. I´m totally buggered, about to get on train to take us back to Cuzco. My bad health was able to maintain a holding pattern and thankfully the chef (yes!) was able to cater for my no wheat or no milk which helped grately.

Amazing bus trip from Puno to Cusco, road ran straight through canyons as I listend to a podcast from abc radio national on mindfulness. 5km of Ica is two tiny oasis´s in the desert surrounded by huge sand dunes. If your ever in Santiago, Chile for 7.5 hour stopover, I recommend the $25usd Airport lounge. Free Shower! Alcohol and snacks both of which are very useful along with the comfy lounges which i re-arranged as a bed. It´s 6.30pm, my flight is 8pm then 3.45hrs to Lima, Peru.
